It’s been a while. So long, in fact, that I’ve had several people from different circles in my life (Mark from Camp, Patty from LOST2014, my father, et. al.) ask me where the hell I’ve been. To quench that thirst for knowledge and get a published blog post on my site for the month, here are a few of the places I’ve been in May and June:
New York: We went to Tarrytown for the Dark Shadows 50th Anniversary Fest. It was pretty sweet and I got to meet a lot of cool people.
West Virginia: I volunteered at camp for a week. It was super enjoyable to come back and have people ask me how camp was — like I was 12. So, how was camp? Probably one of the best weeks I’ve had there (floods, stranded campers, solo canoeing, poop explosions and more gluten-free treats than I could have imagined). I felt needed there and it was good to trade in my computer for work that could be done with my hands. I was gone for too long — I don’t intend to ever make that mistake again.
Maryland: In mid-May, we had a wedding at Herrington on the Bay. It was a lovely affair and it was so good to see our friends get married (and for me to eat cake).
Washington, DC: This was part of the Maryland trip, but we stopped over in DC to do some touristy museum…ing. This trip was a classic case of me stopping every five seconds to identify random plants. There are herb gardens scattered around the National Mall (especially behind the old Smithsonian castle) and many a plant did not go unfondled by me. Note: This picture was from Mad Monster Party in March, but cuddling plants looks the same in any location.
North Carolina: Obviously I live here, but we’ve done a few weddings in some far flung places here, so it’s worth adding. And we’ve done a few concerts at DPAC… and we went to the zoo. And to a hot air balloon festival. Oh, and I’m here at the beach, now. That’s also worth mentioning. We also had some friends visit from Richmond and we ended up at a non-sarcastic tractor pull, which was amazing.
After all of this traveling, you’d think we would just chill out for the rest of the summer.
We’re going to England and Scotland in August. I’ll try to be more timely with that post. Until then!
Where have you been this summer? Go anywhere you haven’t been before? Did you think my absence meant I died? Let me know in the comments!
