Currently In Love With … (3)

This is a series I started based on three things that I am endlessly obsessed with — following the theme of my blog: Creations, Growing Things, and Adventures. If you’d like to read the first and second posts, they’re here and here. Enjoy!

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of home-improvement projects.  That’s a fancy term for organizing and throwing away a lot of stuff (we’re moving — details to come!).  But every now and then we get a new piece of furniture that I get to put together.  A lot of people dread putting furniture together IKEA-style, but it’s one of the my favorite things to do.  Boyfran bought a new bookshelf from Target and let me put it together.  I definitely stretched it out longer than it had to be, but enjoyed myself thoroughly.

Growing Things:

My tarragon has taken off.  I saw new growth trying to thrive in the cold in early January and brought it inside.  Now it’s beautiful!  I absolutely love this little plant for brightening up my winter.Photo Feb 14, 4 26 37 PM

I also managed to sprout some roma tomatoes from seeds that I stole from an organic tomato.  Note: this sometimes doesn’t work with non-organic tomatoes.  They can breed them to be sterile, and thus, rather disappointing.  That’s what happens when people can patent seeds, etc.  ANYWAY, I kinda jumped the gun on putting seeds down this year, but with the prospect of actual ground looming in the next few months, I literally can’t contain myself.

We made a very good decision and decided to see the AC/DCeased show on Valentine’s Day.  That’s right, a zombie-themed AC/DC tribute band.  It was so worth it.

We were also affected by the giant snow storms on the East Coast this week, but our share of it was mostly ice.  Our adventure for the day was making it to the lake and back without breaking ourselves or our camera equipment.

What are you loving right now?

  3. I can not wait to start growing things again as soon as it gets a bit lighter and warmer! It will be a huge challenge this year since we moved to the city and I don’t have a garden anymore. Having really high hopes for the window sills.

    • Do you have a balcony? If not, you can still garden inside, especially if you like growing herbs. And maybe find a way to extend your window sills? At any rate, you can pour all the extra love into a couple of plants and they’ll be even better for it. I promise that’s not crazy. Haha!

    • Thanks! They’re my favorite, too. Obviously, I’d rather be outside most of the time. 🙂 I can’t get on without leaving a large chunk of my virtual wallet in their hands. And don’t joke, I love it enough to take you up on your desk offer. Haha!

  4. I have also been enjoying putting furniture together recently. Pretty much everything in our apartment (except our couch) is from Target. The bookshelves are my favorite!

      • Having to buy all new stuff is intimidating at first. We have most of the major furniture now; there’s just never enough bookshelves. California is good, though! I like being in a bigger city, and there are lots of adventures we can have nearby. The only thing I don’t like about it is the weather. It’s too warm already, and I miss the snow.

  5. My tarragon seems to have completely died so I’m totally jealous of yours! I’m hoping it’s just gone dormant and will miraculously come back to life, but so far it’s not looking good. I’m currently in love with hand embroidery. I got a little obsessed right after Christmas and have since taken a bit of a break while trying to get my blog going again, but I still think about it allll the time. 🙂

  6. You know what I just thought of. You’re a lot like Monica from Friends. She loves organization as much as you do, and I’m sure she’d love to build things as well. YOU SICK PEOPLE. Actually, I’m just jealous that I’m not more like that. What am I currently loving right now? Not this weather. Nope. Not at all. I can’t wait for spring to get here and stick. BLECH.
