Today has been completely weird all before 8 a.m. First, my smoke alarm kept randomly beeping this morning and totally freaking me out. I know it’s silly, but it really got to me this morning. Halloween is known for (and was initially celebrated because) the thinness of the veil between our reality and the reality of the dead. AND we stayed up all night watching scary things, so it especially got to me. In the end, I unplugged it and replugged it, then ran away to work dressed in my Renaissance Faire outfit.
The second weird thing that happened was this:
I’m just going to see Bill. I don’t really care about anything else.
The third weird (terrifying) thing that happened was that one of the students had a seizure in the hallway. He’s okay now. It definitely reignited my superstitious “there’s a very thin veil today” theory, as silly as that sounds.
So, I’m kind of preparing myself for a crazy rest of the day. Tonight, we are going to O’Malley’s and I will be dressed as Ursula from The Little Mermaid. I will post on that later, but I will leave you with this picture I took while constructing my tentacles.
What are you going to be for Halloween? Has anything weird happened to you today? Do you believe in all that hocus pocus about the veil between the dead and the living being at its thinnest today?
