Yard Foraging: Dandelions

I stole some dandelions from a friend’s yard the other day. Why? I want to have my own pot full of wishes. Yeah, I’m getting closer to 30 every day and I still make wishes on dandelions.

I also like to eat the leaves. There have been points in my life where I’ve been pretty low on cash for food, and during those times, I’ve just plucked dandelion out of my yard for some fresh greens. They’re great in salads or on burgers.  As long as you wash them off, you’re grand.

Finally, I’ve been wanting to try to make some dandelion tea.  It’s really good as a cleansing tea, has tons of vitamins, and does wonders for the liver. Can’t go wrong there. The tea is root based, so I can save the leaves for the salad and the seeds for wishes. Perfection.

Have you ever eaten dandelion? How have you used it in the past?
